English Teacher – Secondary (KS3–KS5)

Location: Gosforth, Newcastle upon Tyne
Daily Rate: £163–£263

Protocol Education is working in partnership with a large, high-achieving secondary school in the Gosforth area of Newcastle to recruit an English Teacher.

This is a well-established school with a strong academic ethos, high expectations for students and staff, and a supportive leadership team. The English department is well resourced and collaborative, with a clear curriculum pathway from KS3 through to KS5. The school benefits from excellent public transport links, including Metro access and regular bus routes from across Newcastle and North Tyneside.

The role:
You will be responsible for delivering high-quality English Language and Literature lessons, inspiring students to develop strong literacy skills, critical thinking and a love of reading and writing.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Teaching English across KS3 and KS4, with KS5 opportunities for suitable candidates

  • Planning engaging, well-sequenced lessons aligned with curriculum expectations

  • Differentiating effectively to support learners of varying abilities

  • Assessing progress and providing clear, constructive feedback

  • Supporting GCSE and A-Level exam preparation

  • Maintaining high standards of behaviour and engagement

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification

  • Have experience teaching English in a secondary setting

  • Demonstrate strong subject knowledge and classroom practice

  • Be adaptable, organised and confident in a busy school environment

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
