English Teacher – Secondary
Location: Newcastle upon Tyne
Daily Rate: £163–£263
Protocol Education is recruiting an English Teacher to work in a supportive and ambitious secondary school in Newcastle.
This school places literacy, communication and student voice at the centre of its curriculum and wider ethos. Staff work within a structured and well-organised environment, with clear behaviour systems, strong leadership and a collaborative approach to teaching and learning. The school benefits from good transport links and is easily accessible via public transport from across the city.
The role:
You will be responsible for delivering high-quality English lessons across KS3 and KS4, supporting students of varying abilities to develop confidence in reading, writing and critical thinking.
Key responsibilities include:

Planning and delivering engaging English Language and Literature lessons

Differentiating teaching to meet a wide range of learning needs

Monitoring progress and providing clear, constructive feedback

Supporting GCSE preparation and exam readiness

Maintaining high expectations for behaviour, effort and achievement

Contributing positively to the wider school community
The ideal candidate will:

Hold QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification

Have experience teaching English at secondary level
-
Demonstrate strong subject knowledge and a passion for literacy
-
Be adaptable, organised and confident in the classroom
-
Be comfortable working in either short-term or longer-term supply roles
This opportunity is suitable for ECTs looking to gain experience, as well as experienced teachers seeking flexible or long-term placements.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
