If you’re a Psychology graduate who loves understanding how people think, learn and behave, this role is a brilliant way to put your skills into action. We’re supporting a fantastic SEND school in Gateshead that’s looking for calm, curious and caring graduates to join their team as SEN Teaching Assistants.

You’ll work with pupils who have autism, social and communication needs, and a range of additional learning differences. Your psychology background will help you spot patterns, understand triggers and celebrate progress in a way that truly supports each child as an individual.

What you’ll be doing:
• Supporting pupils 1:1 and in small groups across the school day
• Helping pupils regulate emotions through routines, sensory activities and gentle reassurance
• Using your psychology insight to understand behaviour and build positive relationships
• Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and therapists to adapt tasks
• Encouraging independence and confidence, one small step at a time

We’d love to hear from you if you have:
• A degree in Psychology or a related subject
• Experience supporting children or vulnerable young people, even informally
• A patient, thoughtful approach and interest in SEND
• Great communication skills and a calm, grounded presence
