Secondary schools across the North East are recruiting English Graduate Teaching Assistants to support teaching and learning across Key Stages 3 and 4. This role is ideal for graduates with a background in English, Literature, or Humanities who are looking to gain hands-on classroom experience and develop their skills within a secondary English department.
Working closely with English teachers, you will support reading, writing, and literacy development through in-class support and targeted intervention sessions, helping pupils make meaningful progress.
Key Responsibilities:

Supporting English lessons and literacy-focused classroom activities

Working with pupils on reading comprehension, writing, and written accuracy

Delivering small-group and one-to-one literacy interventions

Supporting exam preparation, coursework, and revision activities

Assisting English department staff with lesson delivery and pupil support
Requirements:

A degree in English, Literature, or a related Humanities subject

Experience working with young people is beneficial but not essential

A strong interest in English education or progression into teacher training

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
