Pay: £130 – £180 per day (paid to scale for long-term roles after 12 weeks)

Calling all Early Career Science Teachers! Protocol Education are working with secondary schools across South Bristol and North Somerset to recruit confident, motivated Science ECTs who want to network with schools in their area, strengthen their behaviour management, and build their CV, all while being supported every step of the way.

Whether you're looking to gain varied experience during your ECT years or explore different school settings before committing long term, this flexible role allows you to teach in local schools that suit your location and schedule. Our educators work day-to-day (anywhere between 2 and 5 days per week depending on your location and preferences), and frequently find long-term roles within weeks of joining us.

 

What the Role Involves

You’ll deliver pre-planned Science lessons in the teacher’s absence, bringing energy, clarity and enthusiasm to the classroom. Responsibilities include:

  • Teaching pre-set Science lessons across KS3–KS4

  • Keeping students engaged, motivated, and on task

  • Managing behaviour in a consistent, positive way

  • Supporting students with questions and reinforcing key concepts

  • Collecting completed work and feeding back to teachers

  • Adapting quickly to different classes, rooms, and routines

This role is ideal for ECTs who want to strengthen their confidence, subject delivery, and classroom presence.

 

We’re Looking For

  • Early Career Teachers (or fully qualified Science teachers)

  • Strong subject knowledge across Biology, Chemistry and/or Physics

  • A calm, professional approach to behaviour management

  • Confidence when leading a classroom independently

  • Flexibility, resilience, and a genuine desire to support young people
