Are you an English or Humanities graduate with QTS ready to inspire upper KS2 pupils while being properly mentored in your ECT year?

This larger Gateshead primary school has just over 420 pupils and a strong academic focus, particularly in reading, writing, and topic-based learning. The school has recently appointed a new Deputy Head with responsibility for curriculum development, and ECT support is a clear priority within their improvement plan.

They are looking to appoint an ECT into a Year 5 class, working alongside an experienced parallel teacher and Upper KS2 lead. The aim is to provide a supported environment where you can develop curriculum confidence, classroom management skills, and assessment knowledge, with the potential to move into a permanent contract at the end of the academic year.

The Role:

  • Teaching a Year 5 class

  • Delivering structured literacy and foundation subject lessons

  • Supporting pupils preparing for upper KS2 expectations

  • Attending weekly planning meetings with year group team

  • Developing marking and feedback consistency

Essential Requirements:

  • QTS
