Protocol Education have strong, long-standing partnerships with secondary schools across North Somerset, and these schools regularly rely on us to connect them with enthusiastic, reliable teachers who can deliver excellent learning and contribute positively to school life.

Whether you’re an ECT looking to build your CV and classroom confidence, or a fully qualified teacher seeking more flexibility around your week, this role allows you to work in local schools that suit your travel preferences and availability. Many of our educators work 2–5 days per week, and it’s very common to secure long-term roles within weeks if that’s something you’re aiming for. You can remain flexible and day-to-day, or use this as a stepping stone into your ideal long-term post.

What the Role Involves

For day-to-day roles, you’ll be delivering pre-planned lessons in your subject or general cover when needed, maintaining a calm and focused classroom, supporting students during tasks, and ensuring completed work is returned to the relevant members of staff. You’ll bring consistency, enthusiasm and clarity to the room, adapting quickly to different classes, routines, and school environments.

For long-term roles, you'll earn more to plan from the school's centralised curriculum, and mark in accordance to the school's policy.

This is a fantastic opportunity to strengthen behaviour management, practise subject delivery, and build relationships with schools across North Somerset.

We’re Looking For

  • Early Career Teachers or fully qualified secondary teachers in any subject

  • Confidence managing behaviour in a warm, consistent way

  • Strong communication and the ability to engage students quickly

  • Flexibility, resilience, and a genuine commitment to young people

If you're looking to broaden your experience and build a great reputation with local schools, this role is ideal.

Professional Development & Training

As part of Protocol Education, you’ll have free access to a wide range of CPD through our training academy. This includes behaviour management strategies, Team Teach de-escalation training, and the Thrive Approach, which is brilliant for understanding behaviour through a relational lens. You’ll also have access to subject and pedagogy-focused courses designed to strengthen your everyday classroom practice.
