Early Years SEND Learning Support Assistants

A well-resourced, successful and forward thinking Primary Academy close to Hayes in the West London borough of Hillingdon are looking to recruit Learning Support Assistands to work with children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities within their Early Years classes.

Located in the greater London borough of Hillingdon, close to the train and bus links, the school also benefits from a large car park.

In this role you will be working with children who are joining the school, and will need a variety of support with areas such as social and communication support, and well as providing a nurturing and caring approach to respond to the needs of the child and adapt to ensure they are able to thrive within their new learning environments.

This position is to start ASAP after interview, so you will ideally need to be available there is some flexibility with start date for the right person however this role will initially start on an agency contract so is only suitable for applicants happy with this arrangement to begin with.

As part of the role you will be expected to take a lead on supporting students with SEND with a range of activities and interventions in areas such as math’s, phonics and literacy so it is essential that you are confident in this area, this can either be from a strong education background or experience working in a similar setting. Ideally you wil have knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum or have specific experience and stratgies for working with children with SEND for example those with Autism or Down Sydrome.

Any strategies to support such as PECS, Makaton, sign along or any similar experience would be fantastic, however the school are open to people with varied experience providing they have the passion and dedication to work with children with SEND and supporting them to develop confidence and inspire a love of learning. People who have a pro-active, can do attitude and are flexible as the role requires you to work both 1:1 and in groups as well as being able to adapt to the changing needs of the children and the school as a whole.
