About the Role

Are you hands-on, patient, and a little bit creative? We’re looking for a Creative Teaching Assistant to join a lively, inclusive secondary school in North Tyneside. You’ll be supporting students across the school’s creative department, which includes Design Technology, Food Technology, Art, Hair & Beauty, and Construction.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys practical learning and wants to help young people develop confidence, independence, and employable skills through creativity.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Supporting students in creative, practical lessons such as DT, Art, Construction, Food Tech, and Hair & Beauty

  • Helping pupils with SEND and additional needs engage confidently in hands-on activities

  • Encouraging safe working habits and assisting with equipment setup and organisation

  • Providing one-to-one or small group support to boost focus and motivation

  • Working closely with teachers and the SEN team to adapt learning to each student’s needs

  • Experience supporting pupils in secondary or SEND settings (essential)

  • A calm, adaptable approach and enthusiasm for practical subjects

  • Confidence to support lessons across creative disciplines

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

  • An understanding of how to support students with additional needs
