Do you think you could use your creative skills to help children with special educational needs and disabilities progress in education? Protocol Education are currently looking to recruit a host of creative people to work as a Teaching Assistants in the Sheffield area.

The Role: Based in a classroom with between 4 – 6 teaching assistants and a teacher, you will work as a team to ensure that lessons are prepared for, children are learning efficiently and that you’re creating a great environment to encourage progression and promote confidence. You will work on a 1:1 and small group basis, adapting work in order for the pupils to get the best out of their education and succeed outside of the classroom.

Initially this role will begin on a day-to-day basis, however for the right person, there could be the opportunity for long term work.

The School: You will work in a range of schools in the Sheffield area with a range of different types of SEND, in particularly PMLD, SLD, ASC, SEMH, and Challenging Behaviour just to mention a few. Ages range in each school however, typically, most are through schools meaning they cater to children from 3 up to 16. You are likely to stay in the same class however some schools do encourage you to move about to help children adapt to working with different people. (If you have a preference to type of need or age, we can work around this, although flexibility is highly desired).

Most schools do require an extra qualification in Team Teach and Moving and Handling and so you must be willing to complete a course if you haven’t already.

The Successful Candidate:

Being adaptable in this role is key to being successful. You will be focused on following the ethos and aims of the school, while being a friendly face for students to go to in times of need. You must be open to going the extra mile to ensure students are given the best education possible. It is vital that you are confident, trustworthy and comfortable working in challenging situations.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
