An ambitious and supportive secondary school in Tower Hamlets is seeking a confident and adaptable Cover Teacher for Science for a full-time, short-term position starting this September. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys engaging students in scientific thinking and wants to ensure continuity of learning during teacher absences.

You’ll play a key role in helping students stay on track in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, delivering pre-set lessons while promoting a positive and purposeful classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver pre-planned Science lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4

  • Engage students in scientific enquiry and critical thinking

  • Manage classroom behaviour and ensure a focused learning space

  • Record attendance and report any concerns or incidents

  • Provide support with lesson content and practical activities when needed

  • Be flexible and ready to cover other subjects if required

You’ll be a great fit if you:

  • Have experience working in a secondary school or education-related setting

  • Hold a degree or have strong subject knowledge in Science disciplines

  • Are confident with classroom management and adaptable to different student needs

  • Communicate clearly, stay calm under pressure, and keep students on task

  • Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or are willing to apply for one)

  • Are passionate about science education and student progress
