A welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Tower Hamlets is seeking a confident and flexible Cover Teacher for Religious Education (RE) for a full-time, short-term role starting this September. This is an ideal opportunity for someone passionate about exploring worldviews, ethics, and belief systems to support students' learning in the absence of their regular teacher.
You’ll deliver pre-set RE lessons to Key Stage 3 and 4 students, encouraging respectful debate, critical thinking, and cultural awareness in a well-structured classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Deliver pre-prepared RE lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4

Support students in exploring philosophical, ethical, and religious concepts
-
Manage classroom behaviour and promote a respectful learning environment

Record attendance and report any concerns or safeguarding issues
-
Facilitate discussion and support students in expressing their views appropriately
-
Be flexible and willing to cover other subjects if needed
You’ll be a great fit if you:

Have experience in a secondary school or education-based role
-
Have a background or strong interest in Religious Education, Philosophy, or related fields
-
Are confident managing classrooms and encouraging open, respectful discussion
-
Communicate clearly, stay calm under pressure, and engage students effectively
-
Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or are willing to apply for one)

Are passionate about education, inclusivity, and student development
