Cover Supervisor – Sunderland

What the Cover Supervisor role involves
You’ll be the steady presence at the front of the classroom, guiding pupils through pre-prepared lesson plans and helping them stay focused and engaged. There’s no planning or marking, just clear communication, consistency and a supportive approach.
You’ll move between different classes and subjects, so confidence, flexibility and a calm manner go a long way.
Your everyday responsibilities as a Cover Supervisor
- Supervising lessons in the absence of teaching staff
- Encouraging pupils to stay on task and follow the work set
- Maintaining positive behaviour and clear expectations
- Communicating effectively with staff about the day’s lessons
- Building rapport with pupils across different year groups
What you’ll bring as a Cover Supervisor
- Strong communication skills
- A confident approach to managing different classes
- Patience and calm, even during busy moments
- A friendly, professional manner
- Experience working with young people is helpful but not essential
