A very highly regarded mainstream secondary school in Sheffield is looking for a Cover Supervisor to join their team after the summer holidays.

About the school:
This is a large all through school (children aged 5 to 18 years) with a large sixth form. The school is highly regarded having been recently voted World Class School of the Year and being rated as “outstanding” by OFSTED. There is a well-established senior leadership team in place who value their staff and are well respected in return. The school is modern and has state of the art facilities. It is also served well by public transport and in a location that is easy to reach.

Responsibilities would include:

  • Covering pre-planned lessons across a range of departments.
  • Managing classroom behaviour.
  • Implementing the school’s behaviour policy and small group support.
  • Pastoral responsibility of a form group.
  • Maintaining welfare and safety of students.
  • Opportunity to gain experience in selected departments within school – future teachers programmes.

This is a great opportunity for anyone who is looking to complete a PGCE, this role will help to ensure that teaching is the right path for you. Experience working as a cover supervisor is highly recognised when applying for a teaching post. Within this role you will develop an understanding of education systems and curriculum, improve your behaviour management skills, and can network for career development.

There are potential opportunities to work on future teacher programmes, whereby the school can support you through your teacher training.

Requirements of the role:

• Be available full time from September 2024. Working day 8.15am – 3:00pm, term time only.
• Hold a degree qualification.
• Hold some relevant experience working with young individuals, ideally between the ages of 11 years – 18 years (voluntary experience is accepted).
• Hold strong behaviour management skills, comfortable managing large groups of students.
• Have a passion for supporting young people.
