Cover Supervisor

Location: East Retford
Job Type: Supply Teaching
Industry: Secondary Cover Supervisors
Reference: JA/CS/Ret/21.11
Salary: £100 - 120 per day + PAYE
Job Published: 33 minutes ago

If you love being in the classroom but want life without the planning, marking, or late-night laminating sessions, this could be right up your street.

We’re looking for brilliant Cover Supervisors to support secondary schools across Retford. You don’t need qualified teacher status, just confidence, great communication skills, and the ability to keep a classroom ticking over with a smile.

What you’ll be doing

  • Supervising lessons when teachers are absent

  • Keeping students on track with set work

  • Managing behaviour with calm, steady confidence

  • Building positive relationships with pupils and staff

  • Making each class feel supported and ready to learn

Think of yourself as the steady hand that keeps the day running smoothly, even when the timetable throws a curveball.

Who this role suits

This role fits perfectly if you:

  • Have experience working with young people, even outside of school

  • Stay calm under pressure

  • Enjoy variety and new challenges

  • Want a foot in the door before teacher training, or just love the pace of school life

  • Like the idea of choosing when you work

Why schools will love you

You’re reliable, confident, flexible, and you know how to hold a room. You follow instructions well but aren’t afraid to think on your feet when a group needs a different approach. Basically, you’re the kind of person who makes teachers breathe a sigh of relief when they spot your name on the cover board.
