Location: Barnet, North London

Contract: Full-time / Part-time / Flexible

Salary: £90 - £120 per day (depending on experience)

Start Date: Immediate / ASAP

Are you a confident, adaptable individual looking to gain classroom experience?

Do you want to work in a "Good" Ofsted-rated school without the pressure of planning or marking?

Protocol Education is currently working in partnership with a thriving, mixed secondary school in the heart of Barnet to recruit enthusiastic Cover Supervisors. This is a fantastic opportunity for graduates, aspiring teachers, or experienced youth workers to join a supportive team and make a real difference in students' daily lives.

About the School

This is a popular, mixed comprehensive secondary school rated 'Good' by Ofsted. Known for its welcoming community ethos and strong behavior policies, the school is situated in a well-connected part of Barnet with excellent transport links (Northern Line & local bus routes) and onsite parking.

The school prides itself on staff well-being and offers a structured, supportive environment for visiting staff. You will be joining a team where you are valued as a key part of the workforce, not just a "supply" number.

The Role

As a Cover Supervisor, you will be the lead adult in the classroom during teacher absences. You do not need to be a qualified teacher, and no active teaching or planning is required.

Your daily responsibilities will include:

  • Supervising classes: Delivering pre-planned lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (ages 11-16).

  • Managing behaviour: Ensuring students remain on task and adhering to the school's behaviour policy.

  • Creating a positive environment: Fostering a safe and productive learning space.

  • Providing feedback: Collecting completed work and leaving a handover note for the returning teacher.

What We Are Looking For

  • Education: A degree (in any subject) is preferred but not essential.

  • Skills: Strong communication skills, resilience, and the ability to think on your feet.

  • Availability: Flexible availability (minimum 3 days a week preferred).
