We’re working closely with a welcoming secondary school to find a Cover Supervisor for a maternity cover role starting in February. This is a brilliant opportunity if you’re thinking about a future in teaching and want hands-on classroom experience in a supportive, well-run environment.
As a Cover Supervisor, you’ll step into lessons when teachers are absent, delivering pre-set work and keeping learning ticking along. You won’t be expected to plan lessons, but you will play a key role in maintaining a calm, focused classroom and building positive relationships with pupils. It’s a great way to build confidence, understand classroom dynamics, and see what life in schools is really like.
This school places huge value on inclusion, aspiration, and helping every pupil feel seen and supported. Students are encouraged to let their light shine, whether that’s academically, creatively, or through enrichment activities. Behaviour expectations are clear, pastoral support is strong, and staff work together to create a safe, encouraging learning environment.
You’ll be joining a team that understands the importance of developing people, pupils and staff alike. Many Cover Supervisors here go on to teacher training, and you’ll gain invaluable experience working across subjects, year groups, and learning styles.
This role could be ideal if you:
-
Are considering teacher training or a career in education
-
Enjoy working with young people and building rapport
-
Are confident, organised, and calm under pressure
-
Want meaningful classroom experience without the pressure of planning
If you’re curious about teaching but want to test the waters first, this role gives you the chance to learn, grow, and make a real difference from day one
