We’re looking for an enthusiastic and adaptable Cover Supervisor to join a supportive and high-performing school team. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, works well under pressure, and is confident supporting young people across a range of subjects and age groups.

You’ll play a vital role in maintaining continuity of learning when teachers are absent, helping pupils stay focused, engaged, and safe, while upholding the high expectations and positive culture of the school.

This role would suit someone who is highly organised, flexible, resilient, and confident managing a classroom, even when plans change at short notice.

About the role

As a Cover Supervisor, you will:

  • Supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff.

  • Deliver pre-set lesson plans, ensuring pupils understand tasks and expectations.

  • Maintain positive behaviour and a calm, purposeful learning environment.

  • Ensure resources required for lessons are available and used effectively.

  • Respond to pupils’ questions around instructions and school procedures.

  • Collect completed work and return it to the relevant teacher.

  • Deal with immediate issues or emergencies in line with school policies.

Hours and salary

  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30–15:30, with a 30-minute lunch break

  • Working pattern: Term time only

  • Salary: From £100 a day

  • Part-time or job share options may be considered for the right candidate.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
