A wonderful specialist school in Gateshead is looking for a Care Support Assistant to join their team. Their pupils have a range of complex learning, physical, and medical needs, and the school prides itself on giving every child the dignity, comfort and support they deserve. What you’ll be doing

  • Providing high-quality personal care for pupils with additional physical needs

  • Supporting pupils with mobility, feeding, hygiene routines and sensory regulation

  • Building warm, trusting relationships that help pupils feel safe and understood

  • Helping pupils access learning through structured routines and supportive communication

  • Working closely with teachers, healthcare professionals and support staff

What we’re looking for

  • Experience supporting children or adults with complex needs, medical needs or disabilities

  • A caring, patient person who treats every child with respect and compassion

  • Someone who stays steady in challenging or emotional moments

  • Good communication skills and a willingness to learn new approaches

  • An understanding of personal care, moving and handling, or a readiness to be trained

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
