These settings support pupils with a range of social, emotional, and behavioural needs, and they’re hoping to welcome people who genuinely want to make a difference.

If you can stay steady during challenging moments, enjoy building positive relationships, and want to help young people feel supported and understood, this could be a great fit. The role is varied, rewarding, and guided by a strong team who will help you learn the approaches that work best for each pupil.

  • Helping pupils follow routines, manage transitions, and feel safe in the classroom.

  • Using clear behaviour support strategies under the direction of teachers and pastoral staff.

  • Encouraging confidence, communication, and positive decision-making.

What the schools are looking for

  • A patient, steady presence who can build trust and rapport with young people.

  • Someone who communicates clearly and works well within a supportive team.

  • The ability to remain calm when situations become more challenging.

  • Experience is useful but not mandatory, as full training and guidance will be provided for the right person.

What you’ll receive

  • Weekly PAYE pay with no umbrella company involvement.

  • Free behaviour support, SEND, and wellbeing training through our CPD Academy.

  • Regular support from a consultant who understands specialist schools in the Durham area.

  • Opportunities to develop your skills and explore long-term roles within education.
