If you’re the kind of person who can stay calm when a day gets a bit stormy, and you enjoy helping young people feel grounded and understood, this could be a brilliant next step for you.
We’re working with a fantastic SEN school in Durham that supports pupils with a range of social, emotional and mental health needs. They’re looking for a Behaviour Support Assistant who’s steady, patient and genuinely wants to help pupils feel safe, supported and ready to learn.
What you’ll be doing
-
Providing 1:1 and small-group behaviour support throughout the school day
-
Helping pupils regulate emotions, manage routines and stay engaged in lessons
-
Using consistent, positive strategies recommended by the pastoral and SEN teams
-
Building trust with pupils who rely on calm adults around them
-
Supporting teachers to create a settled, positive classroom environment
-
Celebrating the small steps forward… because they’re the ones that matter
What the school is looking for
-
Someone who stays composed and reassuring under pressure
-
A good communicator who builds positive relationships quickly
-
Experience in behaviour support, youth work, care or SEN is helpful, but not essential

A natural warmth that helps young people feel safe and understood
