Behaviour Support Assistant – Gateshead Alternative Provision

Contract: Full time
This Gateshead alternative provision is looking for a Behaviour Support Assistant who can bring empathy, consistency and clear boundaries to their classroom. You’ll be supporting young people who’ve experienced trauma, exclusions or significant barriers to learning.
The school focuses on connection before correction and are brilliant at nurturing pupils who need a fresh start.
You’ll be doing:
• Offering 1:1 support during lessons and break times
• Helping pupils manage emotions and develop coping strategies
• Supporting behaviour plans and positive routines
• Working with SENCOs and behaviour leads to shape individual support
You’ll need:
• Experience with SEMH or youth work
• Confidence working with dysregulated pupils
• A kind, firm and upbeat approach

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
