Specialist SEND Behaviour Support Assistant 

I am currently working with a Primary school in Uxbridge, in the Greater West London borough of Hillingdon who are looking for someone to work 1:1 with a child with SEND and EAL who needs specialist social and emotional support to thrive within a mainstream primary setting.

We are looking for someone who has an extensive understanding of working with children with SEMH and or SEND, and can come with the skills to support with positive behaviour management strategies, experience or awareness of trauma informed care and the principles of child psychology would be hugely beneficial.

You will ideally have experience of working with Primary age children as this child in in KS2 so knowledge of the curriculum would be beneficial, however this can be from any setting as transferable skills will be taken into consideration such as residential settings or extra curriculuar clubs or hobbies.

This is a challenging but incredicble rewarding role.

You will need resiliance and the ability to start a clean slate each new day, building up relationships build on trust and safe boundaries you will develop a positive relationship that will make a huge difference in a childs life.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Outstanding behaviour management strategies, with a focus on positive behaviour management.
  • Experience of working with children, young people with challenging behaviour, Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Social Emotional or Mental health (SEMH) or other Special Educational Disabilities (SEND) which have impacted on behaviour.
  • Sports/coaching background or experience of delivering workshops arts or drama etc
  • Ability to build positive and nurturing relationships that help to build confidence, and boost attainment.
  • Good Literacy and Numeracy skills to be able to support with the Primary national curriculum.

You will need to be available to work Monday-Friday between 8.30-3.30pm term time only.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
