The Role
We are seeking a dedicated ASC Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) in a nurturing and inclusive school environment. This role is ideal for someone who is patient, adaptable, and passionate about helping children with autism reach their full potential.
As an ASC TA, you will:

Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with ASC across a range of key stages.

Help pupils manage transitions, routines, and changes to ensure they feel safe and secure.

Use visual aids, structured timetables, and sensory-based strategies to support learning and reduce anxiety.

Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and therapists to deliver tailored interventions.

Encourage social communication, independence, and confidence through positive reinforcement.
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will demonstrate:

Experience of working with children or young people with ASC (school-based or in care/youth settings).

A calm, consistent, and empathetic approach to behaviour and learning support.

Strong communication skills and the ability to adapt to individual needs.

Knowledge of PECS, Makaton, or other communication systems is desirable but not essential.
A Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification and Team Teach training would be an advantage.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
