Autism Teaching Assistant (ASC TA) – Full Time

Location: Peterlee Area

Contract: Full time, long term
Start: ASAP
Pay: £85 to £100 per day (PAYE)

If you’re calm, patient, and brilliant at building trust, this role will absolutely suit you. You’ll be supporting pupils with autism who thrive on routine, kindness, and someone who gets them.

The role includes:

  • 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with autism

  • Helping pupils navigate sensory needs and transitions

  • Working closely with teachers, therapists, and the SEND team

  • Using visuals, TEACCH strategies, and supportive communication

  • Creating a steady, safe environment where pupils can shine

What you’ll need:

  • Experience with autism or complex needs (school, care or home settings welcome)

  • A calm, steady approach when things get tricky

  • Good communication skills and loads of empathy

  • Willingness to learn new SEND strategies
