Job Title: Autism Support Worker

Are you passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of children with autism? Do you have experience working with individuals on the autism spectrum? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as an Autism Support Worker at a school in the City of London.

Job Description: As an Autism Support Worker, you will be responsible for providing one-on-one support to students with autism within the school setting. You will work closely with teachers and other support staff to implement individualized education plans and behavioral interventions. Your role will involve assisting students with daily tasks, facilitating social interactions, and helping to create a supportive learning environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized support to students with autism, both in the classroom and during other school activities.
  • Assist students with academic tasks, including reading, writing, and mathematics, as needed.
  • Implement behavior management strategies to support students in managing their emotions and behaviors.
  • Foster positive social interactions and communication skills among students with autism.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
  • Monitor and record student progress, and provide feedback to teachers and parents as needed.
  • Maintain a safe and supportive learning environment for all students.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with individuals on the autism spectrum, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of autism and knowledge of effective strategies for supporting individuals with autism.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Relevant qualifications in autism support or special education (desirable but not essential).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
