Autism Support Assistant (ASC TA)

Location: West Newcastle
Salary: £89–£120 per day (PAYE)
Contract: Full-time, Long-term

Do you have a natural ability to connect with young people who see the world a little differently?

We’re looking for a compassionate Autism Support Assistant to join a welcoming specialist school in West Newcastle, supporting pupils with autism and related communication needs. You’ll work alongside a brilliant, supportive team helping children build confidence, communication skills, and independence in a calm, structured environment.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Supporting pupils 1:1 or in small, consistent groups

  • Using visual supports, communication aids, and sensory strategies

  • Encouraging positive engagement and emotional regulation

  • Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and therapists

What we’re looking for:

  • Understanding or experience of autism and neurodiversity

  • A patient, adaptable, and caring approach

  • Reliability, empathy, and a genuine interest in helping others

  • (Bonus!) Thrive training or willingness to complete it for free with us

Experience in specialist education is helpful but not essential—what matters most is your positivity and passion for making a difference.
