Autism Teaching Assistant

Protocol Education are currently working with a lovely school in Hackney who are looking to recruit several TA's to work closely with children with Autism in September 2024

The children you will be working with are based within the mainstream classes but will need close support in order to access the curriculum effectively.

You will work closely with the SENDCO to follow an EHCP to ensure your student is making good progress.

Any knowledge of PECS, Makaton, Visual timetables etc would be extremely beneficial. 

This role is due to start in September 2024 and be for the whole academic year.

Job Duties:

  • Supporting students with autism in a resource provision setting
  • Assisting with educational activities and tasks
  • Implementing individualised education plans (IEPs)
  • Providing emotional and behavioural support
  • Collaborating with teachers and other support staff
  • Monitoring and recording student progress

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience working with individuals with autism
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team

Experience:

Prior experience in a similar role preferred

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Understanding of autism spectrum disorders
  • Knowledge of educational strategies for students with autism
  • Ability to adapt to individual student needs

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Additional training in autism support
  • First Aid certification

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
