School Attendance Support Officer

Hillingdon

Mainstream secondary school, KS3-5

Monday – Friday 8:00 am to 3:45 pm

 

Objective:

Contribute to enhancing academic success by fostering improved school attendance and punctuality.

Key Responsibilities:

Utilize school systems for attendance support, intervention, safeguarding, and well-being, as well as provide information, advice, and guidance to promote consistent and punctual attendance for all students.

Address instances of poor punctuality by contacting parents or arranging meetings with parents/carers for persistent offenders.

Assist the Attendance Officer in accurately completing attendance registers and resolving any discrepancies.

Collaborate with the Deputy Headteacher to mentor a designated group of students, reporting on their progress and contributing to their personal growth, especially related to attendance.

Offer support to Heads of Year (HoYs) for their respective year groups, aiding students with attendance challenges, and when needed, developing strategies and protocols for enhancing attendance. Conduct pupil mentoring meetings in alignment with communication from the Attendance Officer.

Communicate with parents/carers and external agencies on behalf of HoYs to determine reasons for non-attendance, identify issues, and propose potential solutions. Conduct initial meetings on attendance, including home visits as directed by the Deputy Headteacher or Attendance Officer.

Share responsibility for elevating attendance and supporting staff in their efforts to enhance attendance.

Contribute to initiatives that raise awareness among school staff, students, and parents about the significance of school attendance.

Collaborate with the Deputy Headteacher and Attendance Officer to promote good attendance through the creation of rewards, certificates, and house points.

Maintain accurate records of consultations and prepare any necessary reports.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
