The role
We are working with a well-established 11–18 secondary school in Northumberland to recruit an Attendance & Engagement Officer to support pupils who face barriers to regular school attendance. This role focuses on building relationships, improving attendance, and supporting pupils to re-engage with learning.
The school has strong pastoral and safeguarding systems in place and a proactive, child-centred approach to inclusion and wellbeing.

Responsibilities

Monitor and support pupil attendance and punctuality

Work 1:1 with pupils to identify barriers to attendance

Support reintegration into school following absence

Liaise with pastoral teams, families, and external agencies

Track engagement and contribute to intervention planning
The ideal candidate

Experience in education, pastoral care, youth work, or social care

Strong communication and relationship-building skills

Confident working with vulnerable pupils and families

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
