RECRUITING Assistant Head of Year (AHOY)

Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm (36 hours + 4 hours overtime, term-time only)

Reports To: Head of Year

Job Purpose:

Support the Head of Year in providing pastoral care and support to students, ensuring they achieve their full potential by resolving barriers to learning such as attendance, motivation, and behaviour.

Key Responsibilities:

Support excellent attendance, punctuality, and behaviour within the year group.

Deliver cover lessons (approx. 15/week).

Collaborate with HoY, parents, and learners on success plans.

Monitor and review student progress, attendance, and behaviour data.

Implement and monitor interventions for students with organizational and behavioural difficulties.

Liaise with multi-agency partners to remove barriers to learning.

Maintain regular contact with parents to encourage involvement in their child’s education.

Undertake daily break/lunch duties, registration cover, and invigilation as required.

Essential Skills & Qualifications:

Strong knowledge of child development and behaviour management strategies.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Experience working with students exhibiting challenging behaviour.

Ability to handle sensitive conversations with tact and diplomacy.

Proven ability to organize and manage time effectively.

Experience in a multi-disciplinary team setting.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
