Specialist ASD Teaching Assistant 

A well-resourced, successful and forward thinking Primary school close to Ruislip in the West London borough of Hillingdon are looking to recruit a Specialist ASD Teaching Assistant to work with a children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities within a KS1 Class.

Located in the greater London borough of Hillingdon, close to the underground station as well as A40 access to the motorway, the school is served by the central line as well as local bus services.

In this role you will be working with a child who has recently joining the school, and will need a variety of support with areas such as social and communication support, and well as providing a nurturing and caring approach to respond to the needs of the child and adapt to ensure they are able to thrive within their new learning environment.

This position is to start ASAP so you will ideally need to be available to start immediately after interview, however there could be some flexibility for the right person. Initially offered as an agency contract there is the potential for the role to lead into a permanent position in future should this be something you're looking for.

As part of the role you will be expected to take a lead on supporting your student with a range of activities and interventions in areas such as math’s, phonics and literacy so it is essential that you are confident in this area, this can either be from a strong education background or experience working in a similar setting.

Ideally you wil have knowledge of the Primary and EYFS stage Curriculum or have specific experience and strategies for working with children with SEND for example those with Autism or Down Syndrome.

Any strategies to support such as PECS, Makaton, sign along or any similar experience would be fantastic, however the school are open to people with varied experience providing they have the passion and dedication to work with children with SEND and supporting them to develop confidence and inspire a love of learning. People who have a pro-active, can do attitude and are flexible as the role requires you to work both 1:1 and in groups as well as being able to adapt to the changing needs of the children and the school as a whole.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
