We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Teaching Assistant to work 1:1 with a pupil with ASD, who presents with challenging behaviour and requires consistent, patient, and structured support.

This role is suited to someone who is nurturing yet firm, calm under pressure, and confident in setting clear boundaries while building trusting relationships.

 

The Role

You will:

  • Provide 1:1 support for a pupil with ASD throughout the school day

  • Support emotional regulation, engagement, and access to learning

  • Implement behaviour strategies and individual support plans

  • Use clear routines, boundaries, and positive reinforcement

  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and wider support team

  • Support the pupil both in and out of the classroom as required

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has proven experience supporting pupils with ASD

  • Is confident managing challenging behaviour

  • Is nurturing, patient, and emotionally resilient

  • Can be firm but fair, with clear and consistent expectations

  • Has experience with strategies such as visual supports, de-escalation techniques, or sensory regulation

  • Has experience in a UK primary school or SEN setting

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
