Job Title: Art Teacher - Specialist Behaviour Setting

Job Summary: We are seeking a talented and dedicated Art Teacher to join our team in a Specialist Behaviour Setting. As an Art Teacher, you will have the unique opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of students with behavioural challenges by nurturing their artistic talents. You will be responsible for designing and delivering engaging art lessons that promote creativity, self-expression, and emotional well-being.

Our Specialist Behaviour Setting provides a supportive learning environment for students who require additional behavioural and emotional support. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of behaviour management techniques and a passion for using art as a therapeutic tool to engage and inspire students.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive art curriculum tailored to meet the needs of students with behavioural challenges.
  • Plan and deliver engaging art lessons that incorporate various artistic techniques, mediums, and styles.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment that encourages self-expression and positive behaviour.
  • Utilise behaviour management strategies and therapeutic approaches to address challenging behaviours and promote emotional well-being.
  • Provide individualised instruction and support to students with varying levels of artistic ability and behavioural needs.
  • Assess and evaluate student artwork, providing constructive feedback to encourage growth and development.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including behaviour specialists, therapists, and support staff, to create a cohesive learning experience for students.
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians, providing updates on student progress and addressing any concerns or questions.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay up to date with best practices in art education and behaviour management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Teaching certification in Art Education (UK Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent).
  • Proven experience working with students with behavioural challenges in a specialised setting.
  • Strong knowledge of art techniques, mediums, and art history.
  • Familiarity with behaviour management strategies and therapeutic approaches.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to establish positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents/guardians.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping students overcome behavioural challenges through art.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
