Are you an Art graduate looking to make a difference in education? Join a nurturing secondary SEND provision in South Shields, supporting pupils with SEMH and additional learning needs. This role blends creativity and care — using art and expression to inspire confidence and emotional wellbeing.
Key responsibilities

Support art-based learning and creative projects across the school.

Help pupils express themselves through art, craft, and design.

Assist in managing classroom behaviour and building positive relationships.

Encourage pupils’ engagement and independence through creative learning.

Work closely with teachers and support staff to deliver inspiring, inclusive lessons.
About you

Degree in Art, Design, or a related subject.

A passion for supporting children and young people with additional needs.

Calm, patient, and adaptable approach with excellent communication skills.

No formal experience required — just enthusiasm, creativity, and empathy.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
