The role

Are you an experienced school administrator who takes pride in keeping things running smoothly? Do people rely on you because you’re organised, calm under pressure, and always one step ahead?

We’re looking for an Administration and Cover Manager who enjoys being at the heart of a busy school. This is a key role, combining responsibility, trust, and the chance to make a real difference every single day.

You’ll oversee day-to-day staff cover, manage admissions processes, and lead a small administrative team, ensuring the school day starts smoothly and runs as it should.

Key responsibilities

  • Managing planned and daily staff cover in line with school policy and safeguarding requirements
  • Using the Supply Bank platform confidently to meet daily cover needs
  • Leading and managing student admissions for Years 4–11
  • Acting as the main point of contact for parents throughout the admissions process
  • Line managing and supporting the administrative team
  • Handling sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion

Qualifications (essential)

  • 5 GCSEs including Maths and English (Grade 4–9 or equivalent)

Experience and knowledge

  • Experience of administrative or secretarial work
  • Experience of working front of house or on a reception desk
  • Experience of working as part of a team
  • Experience of handling sensitive and confidential student information
  • Confident use of the Microsoft Office suite to intermediate level or above

Skills and personal attributes

  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment
  • Strong relationship-building skills with colleagues, parents, and students
  • Clear and confident communication with a wide range of stakeholders, using different methods
  • Good time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
  • Confident use of ICT and other relevant equipment and resources
  • Ability to use software, spreadsheets, databases, and other systems accurately and efficiently
  • Confidence holding difficult or sensitive conversations in a calm, professional manner

Working hours

Due to the cover responsibilities of the role, the successful candidate will need to be available to start work daily at 7:30am.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
