SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant – High Needs Support

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a child with high and complex needs in a welcoming school in Colchester.

The successful candidate will provide individualised, one-to-one support throughout the school day, working closely with the class teacher and wider support team to ensure the child’s safety, wellbeing, and access to learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing consistent 1:1 support for a child with high SEN needs
  • Supporting with PEG feeding (training can be provided if required)
  • Assisting with personal care in a respectful and dignified manner
  • Supporting communication, emotional regulation, and engagement in learning
  • Maintaining a calm, safe, and nurturing environment at all times

Essential Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children with high or complex needs
  • Experience or willingness to support PEG feeding and personal care
  • A calm, patient, and nurturing character
  • Ability to build trusting relationships and respond sensitively to individual needs
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills

Desirable:

  • SEN or care-based qualifications
  • Experience in a school or specialist setting

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
