A primary school in Denton Burn, Newcastle is looking for a caring, consistent 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a Year 2 pupil with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs and autism spectrum condition (ASC).
This is a full-time, long-term role where you’ll work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to help the child feel safe, understood, and ready to learn.
Your role will include:

Building a positive, trusting relationship with the pupil

Supporting emotional regulation and promoting independence

Using clear, consistent communication strategies to aid understanding

Helping the pupil engage with lessons, adapt activities, and access learning

Working alongside staff and parents to ensure a joined-up approach
We’re looking for someone who:

Has experience supporting children with SEMH and/or ASC

Brings patience, empathy, and a calm approach to challenges

Can adapt quickly and work as part of a supportive team

Understands the importance of consistency and routine
