1:1 SEND Support Assistant – Primary Setting
If you’re someone who brings patience, encouragement and a steady presence into the classroom, this 1:1 SEND Support Assistant role could be a brilliant match. The school is looking for a caring, reliable person who can provide consistent, individualised support to a pupil who needs a little extra help throughout the school day.
What the role involves as a SEND Support
You’ll be working closely with one pupil, helping them feel safe, supported and ready to learn. Your role is to understand their needs, help them navigate routines and build their confidence both in and out of the classroom. You’ll work alongside the class teacher and SEND staff to put the right support strategies in place.
Every day is about making school feel manageable, positive and secure for the child you’re supporting.
Your daily responsibilities as a SEND Support
- Providing tailored 1:1 support throughout lessons
- Helping the pupil manage transitions, routines and expectations
- Encouraging engagement with activities and classwork
- Using a calm, nurturing approach to behaviour and communication
- Working closely with teachers, TAs and the SENDCO
- Offering reassurance and helping the pupil develop emotional regulation strategies
What you’ll bring as a SEND Support
- Experience supporting children or young people, ideally with SEND
- A patient, warm and understanding approach
- Confidence working 1:1 and following support plans
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
