A specialist school in Gateshead is looking for a 1:1 Support Assistant who can offer calm, steady support to a pupil who needs a helping hand throughout the school day. You’ll be joining a team that works closely together to create a safe, structured environment where every child feels understood and able to make progress in their own way.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building positive relationships and wants to make a genuine impact on a young person’s school experience. The pupil you’ll be supporting will benefit from patience, encouragement, and gentle consistency, and the staff will guide you through the routines and strategies that work best for them.

What you’ll be doing

  • Providing one-to-one support to a pupil with additional needs, helping them stay engaged and settled.

  • Supporting classroom activities, routines, and learning tasks throughout the day.

  • Working closely with teachers and support staff to follow clear and consistent strategies.

  • Offering reassurance, structure, and a friendly presence during more challenging moments.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
