1:1 SEND Support Assistant – Gateshead

What your role will involve as a SEND Support

You’ll work closely with one pupil, helping them feel settled, confident and able to engage with learning. You’ll support classroom activities, assist with routines and work alongside the SEND team to put consistent strategies in place. Your presence helps the pupil build trust, independence and emotional resilience.

How you’ll be making a difference as a SEND Support

  • Offering tailored 1:1 support during lessons
  • Encouraging the pupil to engage with tasks and stay on track
  • Helping with transitions, movement around school and daily routines
  • Using calm, positive communication to support behaviour
  • Working closely with the class teacher and SENDCO
  • Celebrating small wins and steady progress

You’ll be a great fit as a SEND Support if you have

  • Experience supporting children or young people, especially with SEND
  • A calm, nurturing approach
  • Good teamwork and communication skills
  • Confidence building strong relationships with pupils
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
