A fantastic specialist school in Durham is looking for a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a pupil who needs consistency, patience and a nurturing adult in their corner. You’ll play a huge part in helping them feel safe, confident and ready to take part in school life.
What you’ll be doing

Supporting one pupil with additional needs such as autism, communication differences or sensory needs

Helping them follow routines, understand expectations and access learning

Using calm, positive strategies to build confidence and trust

Working closely with teachers, therapists and the SENCO to keep everything joined up

Creating a predictable, supportive environment where the pupil can thrive
What we’re looking for

Experience working with children or young people with SEND

A patient, gentle approach and the ability to stay steady when things get tricky

Someone who communicates clearly and connects well with pupils

An interest in SEN, child development or behaviour support

A willingness to learn new strategies and work as part of a team
