Protocol Education are working closely with a welcoming primary school in Bristol who are looking for a kind, patient and committed member of staff to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a specific pupil in Year 4.

This role centres around consistency, connection and trust. You’ll be supporting a child with additional learning needs on a 1:1 basis, helping them feel safe, understood and ready to engage with their school day. The pupil has additional needs, which may include SEMH, ASD or ADHD, and benefits from calm, predictable support from a familiar adult.

Your role will be to act as a steady, reassuring presence throughout the day, helping the child regulate emotions, manage behaviour and access learning both in and out of the classroom. Progress might come in small steps, but each one matters, and you’ll be there to celebrate every win.

The school are keen to welcome someone caring and intuitive, who understands the importance of patience, routine and relationship-building in 1:1 support. While you’ll work alongside the class teacher and wider support team, your focus will always be on meeting the individual needs of the child you support and helping them feel confident and included.

The role includes:

  • Providing consistent 1:1 support for a named pupil throughout the school day

  • Supporting the child to access learning, both academically and emotionally

  • Adapting tasks alongside the class teacher to help the pupil feel successful

  • Using clear, calm behaviour strategies to support regulation and positive choices

  • Acting as a positive role model and following the school’s reward systems

  • Communicating professionally with teaching staff and support teams

About you:

  • Calm, resilient and steady in challenging situations

  • Patient, nurturing and genuinely invested in supporting one child

  • Flexible and able to adapt to the flow of a primary school day

  • Experience with SEMH, ASD, ADHD or SEN, professionally or personally

  • Creative and open-minded, happy to think differently to support learning

  • Passionate about making a real difference to a child’s school experience

  • Consistent work supporting the same pupil and school

  • Flexible options to fit around your life and commitments

  • Guaranteed work agreements available
