1:1 SEN Support - Bristol

Looking for a role where you can make a real difference to a young person’s day, every single day? If you’re calm, caring, and ready to champion a student who needs a bit of extra support, this could be a brilliant fit for you.

We’re working with a welcoming secondary school that’s looking for 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistants who can confidently support pupils across Years 7 to 11. You’ll be helping students with a range of additional needs, from autism and ADHD to social, emotional, and mental health needs. No two days look the same, but that’s what makes it rewarding.

What you’ll be doing

  • Providing steady, personalised 1:1 support that helps students feel confident and included

  • Helping young people access their lessons and make progress across the curriculum

  • Working closely with teachers and SEND staff to tailor strategies and routines

  • Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour

  • Building trust, celebrating the wins, and being that consistent person they can rely on

  • Encouraging independence, resilience, and engagement in learning

What we’re looking for

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEND, ideally in a school or youth setting

  • A patient, nurturing approach and the ability to stay calm even on the trickier days

  • Strong communication skills and a natural ability to build rapport

  • Confidence working with secondary-age pupils, including teenagers with higher-level needs

  • Flexibility to work full-time on an ongoing basis

  • A genuine desire to help students find their spark again

Why this role matters

Secondary students with additional needs often just need one person who understands them, backs them, and helps them navigate school life. If you’re someone who enjoys championing young people and seeing the difference you can make, you’ll feel right at home here.
