We’re working with a welcoming SEN school in Gateshead looking for a 1:1 SEN Support Assistant to support a pupil who benefits from consistency, reassurance, and clear routines. This role is all about relationships, understanding individual needs, and helping a young person feel safe and supported in school.

The role:

  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with SEN

  • Supporting learning, emotional regulation, and daily routines

  • Helping the pupil stay engaged and access the curriculum

  • Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and wider support teams

  • Creating a calm, positive, and structured environment

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has experience supporting children with SEN, this could be in schools, care, youth work, or similar settings

  • Is patient, resilient, and confident supporting individual needs

  • Understands that behaviour is a form of communication

  • Can build strong, trusting relationships

  • Is reliable and committed to making a difference

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
