Job Title: 1:1 Special Educational Needs Learning Support Assistant with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health Needs

Job Duties:

  • Provide 1:1 support to a student with Special Educational Needs, specifically Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs
  • Assist the student in accessing the curriculum and adapting learning materials as needed
  • Support the student in developing social skills and emotional regulation
  • Work closely with the SENCO and classroom teacher to implement individualised learning strategies
  • Monitor and track student progress, providing feedback to the teaching team

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children or young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs
  • Understanding of Special Educational Needs and experience implementing support strategies
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team

Education:

Minimum of GCSEs or equivalent qualifications in English and Maths

Experience:

Prior experience in a similar role within an educational setting

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of SEMH needs and appropriate support strategies
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues
  • Effective behaviour management skills
  • Organisational skills and ability to multitask

Preferred Qualifications:

  • SEN qualification or relevant training
  • First Aid certification

Working Conditions:

This role involves working within a school environment, supporting a student with Special Educational Needs. The position may require some flexibility in working hours to meet the needs of the student and school timetable.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
