Salary: £89.35 - 100.00 per day
Job Published: about 9 hours ago

We are supporting a specialist school that is looking for a calm, reliable 1:1 SEMH Support Assistant to work closely with a pupil who needs steady guidance throughout the day. The role is centred around helping them feel secure, understood, and ready to learn at their own pace.

You do not need a long list of experience to be considered. Having worked with children or young people before is helpful, but the school is equally open to someone who brings patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in supporting pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs.

What you will be doing

  • Offering one-to-one support to a pupil with SEMH needs, helping them manage emotions and stay engaged.

  • Encouraging positive routines and building a trusting relationship.

  • Supporting learning in and out of the classroom, following clear guidance from staff.

  • Working alongside teachers, mentors, and support staff to ensure consistency throughout the day.

What the school would like to see

  • A calm, thoughtful approach to supporting children who may have difficult moments.

  • Good communication skills and the ability to build rapport over time.

  • A willingness to learn new strategies and follow clear plans.

  • Experience is ideal but not essential. The right attitude is what truly matters.

What we can offer you

  • Weekly PAYE pay without any umbrella deductions.

  • Free access to our CPD Academy, including courses on SEMH, safeguarding, and behaviour support.

  • A consultant who knows specialist settings well and will support you throughout your placement.

  • Opportunities to grow your confidence and skills in a rewarding school environment.

If you are someone who stays steady under pressure and wants to make a positive difference to a young person’s school experience, we would be pleased to hear from you. Apply today and we will be in touch with the next steps.
