About the role
You’ll be supporting a pupil with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, helping them feel safe, regulated, and ready to engage with learning.
Your day will involve:

Providing calm, consistent 1:1 support throughout the school day

Using agreed strategies to help the pupil manage emotions, routines, and transitions

Supporting them to develop confidence, communication, and self-regulation

De-escalating challenging situations with patience and care
-
Creating a space where the pupil feels understood, respected, and able to try again

Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider pastoral team

Requirements to work as a 1:1 SEMH Support Assistant

Experience supporting children or young people, ideally with SEMH or SEND

A steady, positive, and resilient approach

Confidence using behaviour strategies and de-escalation techniques

Great communication and relationship-building skills

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
