We’re working with a specialist SEND school in Gateshead that supports pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. They’re looking for a steady, patient and confident Behavioural Support Assistant to work 1:1 with a pupil who needs consistency, reassurance and someone who genuinely believes in them.

Every day will be different, but you’ll play a huge part in helping a young person feel safe, understood and ready to learn.

What your day might look like:
• Providing 1:1 support to a pupil with SEMH needs
• Helping them regulate emotions and manage difficult moments
• Using de-escalation techniques and positive behaviour strategies
• Supporting learning in and out of the classroom
• Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral teams
• Celebrating every bit of progress, no matter how small

We’d love to hear from you if you have:
• Experience supporting young people with challenging behaviour
• A calm, grounded approach and the ability to build trust
• Strong communication skills and resilience
• A genuine interest in SEMH and trauma-informed practice
• Experience in youth work, care, mentoring or education

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
