We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate individual to work as a 1:1 Learning Support Assistant (LSA) with complex medical needs. The position is based at a Doncaster school for Protocol Education.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing 1:1 support to the student throughout the school day. This will involve:
- Assisting with the use of a feed tube to ensure the student receives proper nutrition during the day
- Providing personal care for the student, including toileting and hygiene needs
- Supporting the student's learning and development in line with the school's curriculum and the student's individual education plan
- Working collaboratively with the classroom teacher and other support staff to ensure the student's needs are met
- Maintaining accurate records of the student's progress and any incidents or concerns that arise
- Adhering to the school's policies and procedures, including those related to health and safety, safeguarding, and confidentiality
Qualifications and Skills
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience working with children with complex medical needs and/or disabilities
- Knowledge of the use of feed tubes and personal care procedures
- An understanding of the principles of special education and the ability to support students with a range of learning needs
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage competing demands
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
